Building trust with students from Indonesia or other countries and education providers is one of the keys to being a successful education agent. Ideally, you would be able to maintain the good reputation of the education provider you’re representing and deliver quality education for candidates coming from Indonesia or other countries. To make this happen, you would need sufficient details about your education provider.
1. Course Information
Get information on the minimum level of general requirements for being qualified in the educational institution. If applicable, you should also look into the minimum level of work experience required for acceptance into provider courses. These details, along with duration of provider courses and teaching and assessment methods used in courses, can typically be found in the education provider’s academic catalogue, which you may also share with the students.
2. Campus Location
You also need to check where the campus of the institution is located. One of the things that makes an education provider attractive to its prospects is if it’s conveniently placed in an area accessible to public transport and commercial establishments. Ask for images of the campus facilities, equipment and learning resources for review purposes. This can also be used as a reference when presenting the education provider’s location and facilities to the students.
3. Fees and Rates Currently Offered
Aside from determining the requirements and quality of the courses provided, you also need to get information about the financial costs of staying in the university. Check the latest rates on the tuition for offered courses and other miscellaneous fees. You can also determine if the education provider can accommodate students who will be needing financial support by inquiring about the scholarship opportunities and student assistance programmes available in the educational institution.
4. Policies and Procedures
You must review the rules and regulations implemented by the education provider for students to be aware of. This can range from procedures for checking on the suitability of student accommodation, support and general welfare arrangements to attendance policies. These policies will also indicate the requirements for completing course progress such as grading policies, attendance and retention policies. There are also guidelines provided by institutions on student conduct and even approval student transfer request.
5. Education Institution’s Reputation and Performance
You can increase the credibility of the information you have about the educational institution by going beyond the information your institution provides and research on outsiders’ perception, e.g. community views about the institution. You can verify if the school has been compliant with the safety and guidance policies of the local authorities. You can also investigate on how the institution is performing based on factors such as local and international rankings, faculty and student population over the years, recognitions received and participation in academic and national events.
A good way for student agents to organise data is to create a database for each institution that you work with, so that you’d be able to search for details conveniently when interested students from Indonesia or other countries make their own queries. This will also save you from the trouble of having to call institutions frequently just to check on their requirements and basic information.
